Karim Benzema has sent Arsenal fans on a roller coaster of emotion this summer and if we come into September without him on the team, my weak little heart may be too exhausted to even be upset. But I will find a way to be.

If there is an opening to get Karim Benzema, you darn well better get him. It is just an unspoken rule. But it is not everyday that someone like Karim Benzema becomes available. He is, after all, one of the best strikers in the world, so why would a team want to do without him?

Well, all things considered, it appears as through Real Madrid have found a way to make Karim Benzema available. Despite agents, managers and front office representatives holding firm that Benzema will not be on the move, it still looks fairly realistic to believe that Karim Benzema will indeed be on the move. After all, even Mesut Ozil said he was going to stay at Real Madrid a few days before making the switch to North London.

Football Insider is now indicating that Arsenal transfer chief Dicky Law is set to meet with Karim Benzema’s representatives over a potential transfer deal. Despite Benzema’s agent Karim Djaziri saying that he was “1,000% certain to stay” Arsene Wenger has not given up and will continue to poke and prod until the French striker folds.

Perhaps the most shocking bit of news from this report is that Arsenal have yet to table a formal offer for Karim Benzema, as apparently the 30 and 35 million pound offers were either informal or never happened. Either way, Benzema will likely use up the remainder of Arsenal’s transfer funds, but he would be completely worth it.

With Wenger loaning out Chuba Akpom it begs to be questioned whether or not that was a prerequisite to luring a striker over to the club. Wenger had said that Akpom would remain with the club this year and be given a good chance of making it with the first team, but he was loaned out regardless. For that to happen, you have to believe that Arsene Wenger had something either lined up, or as close to being lined up to feel secure enough to let a striker get out of town.

I do not think I need to talk up why Karim Benzema would be great for this club, suffice to say that he would solidify one of the few positions on this team that even has the slightest hint of uncertainty. That kind of uncertainty can be busted open in the worst case scenario and leave Arsenal grossly exposed.

In Wenger we trust, right?
