6. Arsenal can beat big teams without Alexis

I keep having to remind myself that Arsenal did all of this without the guy that made last year’s success possible: Alexis Sanchez. Alexis was an absolute stud for the Gunners and kept the team going when Ozil and Giroud were out injured.

Given that the Copa America was won by Alexis’s Chile, he was given extra vacation time to rest up before returning to Arsenal. As such, he was always going to miss this Community Shield, and Wenger had time to prepare for a match without him.

The results were great. While the Arsenal formation was a bit questionable given the lack of applicable personnel (namely, Alexis), the result cannot be argued with. This was a big team and Arsenal beat them without their main man and without their usual formation and positioning.

That is saying something. Just imagine what Arsenal will be able to do when he comes back.
