Forget Christmas, New Years, Halloween, St. Patrick’s Day, Thanksgiving and Birthdays. The best day(s) of the year is when the Premier League kicks off. All of the preseason hubbub was fun and a satisfying appetizer, but the full-length entree is about to be delivered to the table and I think I speak for the masses when I say that we are starving.

Arsenal kick it off against West Ham. The Hammers started off incredibly strong last year, hanging out in the top five thanks mainly in part to a solid defense led by once-Arsenal target Winston Reid.
They dropped off considerably due to an inability to score goals, but that does not mean their defense dropped off as well. They finished 12 and while that is indeed in the bottom half of the table, in terms of goals surrendered, they were third in the league outside of the Champions League qualifiers.
However, this Arsenal attack has looked pristine and will have all the confidence in the world to hammer a goal or two or five past the Hammers.

Arsenal are going to be without Danny Welbeck, Jack Wilshere and potentially Alexis Sanchez. Arsene Wenger has said that the Chilean would probably not feature, but refused to give a definite answer. He added via ESPN FC: “Sunday [against West Ham] will certainly come too early, but in 10 days he should be OK.”
Certainly that eliminated him from starting but I would not rule out a late entrance just to get the blood pumping.
Aside from that, we are not really going to miss Danny Welbeck, although Jack Wilshere’s injury is obviously a bit gutting.
With all that in mind, lets figure out who Arsenal should be starting.
