Arsene Wenger will not sign another striker for Arsenal because of Danny Welbeck
By Josh Sippie
After belaboring the point that Arsenal need Karim Benzema, I have slowly come to the sad acceptance that we will in all likelihood not notch the exquisite Frenchman’s exquisite signature. Nor will we land Edinson Cavani or Gonzalo Higuain. But that is okay.

Arsene Wenger is not the kind of guy that is going to give up on an experiment. It was very surprising that he went out and got Petr Cech when David Ospina was still fresh off the boat from OGC Nice. The ‘exceptional player’ rule must have applied to Wenger’s transfer policy – just this once.
But Danny Welbeck is still a striker and as long as Arsenal still technically have three strikers, Wenger going out and nabbing a fourth is incredibly unlikely.
With all the faith in the world in Olivier Giroud (and rightly so), the Gunner’s boast the services of Theo Walcott behind him. We all remember Walcott’s stunning end to the 2014/15 campaign but more fresh in our memories is his lackluster beginning to the 2015/16 campaign. That being said, he is new to the position and there is probably the slightest bit of pressure on him.
The problem with Theo Walcott is that he really cannot create for himself. He has to have his runs picked out by his team mates and given how little time he has had at striker, it makes sense that they are still trying to gel to the point that they know the speedy Englishman’s run patterns.
Then there is Danny Welbeck, who Arsene Wenger brought in as cover for Olivier Giroud at the very last second last summer’s transfer window. With no preseason to mesh with the team, Welbeck continued where he left off at United, struggling to score goals but doing the more undervalued things incredibly well.
At the end of the day, though, to be a striker you need to score goals. Danny Welbeck frustratingly does not score goals. He does everything else up until the point where he needs to score and then it just goes sour.

A good preseason would have done wonders towards bridging the gaps in that facet of his game. But his injury lingered, even to the bewilderment of Arsene Wenger. Now, Wenger expects him back with Arsenal in a month, according to the Mirror.
I am still of the belief that the only thing Welbeck needs for the goals to come is a prolonged run with the team, getting involved in the intricate team play and being at the receiving end of some unmissable opportunities. Confidence is key.
Danny Welbeck is exciting because once he learns to score consistently, he will be a special talent. Lets just hope that comes sooner rather than never.
