Krychowiak Shows Why Arsenal Need Him Against Germany

Even though Grzegorz Krychowiak’s Poland side lost 3-1 to Germany at the weekend, the 25-year-old had a brilliant game. While the Germans managed to slot three past Lukasz Fabianski, Karim Bellarabi would have made it four had Krychowiak not made a last-ditch block to stop his close-range shot.

The Pole made numerous important tackles and few mistakes against the Germans, and what is arguably the best attack in the world right now.

Their loss to Die Manschaft was their first of the Euro 2016 campaign, and they are still in with a shot of qualifying for the tournament in France next year.

While Sevilla have not had a hot start to their Liga BBVA campaign, their star defensive midfielder has continued to play consistently.

He led Los Rojiblancos to a Europa League triumph after joining from Stade Reims and he has been getting better and better since arriving in Spain.

Arsenal’s Francis Coquelin is another player who has been consistently improving since his introduction to first-team football. Arsene Wenger may believe that Coquelin is good enough, though regardless of his talent Arsenal need more than one defensive midfielder.

The transfer window is closed right now, but a January move for the 25-year-old would be perfect for The Gunners.

Another crucial tackle from Krychowiak. Don’t think I’ve ever seen him have a bad game.

Krychowiak’s value could skyrocket by the winter if his nation qualify for the Euros. There is no doubt he will be in the side if they are competing in France, but it will be a difficult road for Poland due to the rising quality of other European nations.

Arsenal’s transfer window was disappointing in terms of additions in the outfield. The lack of additions up front and in defensive midfield frustrated Gunners fans, but Wenger was quick to reassure everybody that they were on the right track.

17-year old Krystian Bielik is currently on the Arsenal books after joining from Legia Warsaw last summer.

Bielik stands at 188 centimeters and has room to grow as he is still in his teenage years. He could be an outstanding piece in the long-term, but not necessarily at center defensive midfield.

Possibly Krychowiak’s future Poland teammate, Bielik has been played at center back more frequently for the Arsenal youth team and is being trained in that position.

The lack of a common first language between the two center halves and central defensive midfielder of a team can be an obstacle in terms of fluidity. If Krychowiak joins Arsenal and Bielik moves into the first team, they could form a great partnership, along with somebody like Gabriel Paulista.

Paulista is shorter than Bielik but he has shown extreme adeptness in the tackle, which could be a brilliant compliment to Bielik’s aerial ability.

There could be other big additions at the back in the mean time, but there is a triumvirate there that Wenger could seriously look into should Krychowiak move to North London in the future.
