Petr Cech Will Not Let Arsenal Lose to Chelsea
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal have a crucial match coming up on Saturday. There is a lot of pressure on this club to put the midweek debacle against Dinamo Zagreb behind them. However, that is no easy feat when Chelsea is on the schedule. This may be a Chelsea that is sitting just on top of the relegation zone, but it is still Chelsea. We know they are not going to get relegated. They defeated Tel Aviv 4-0 in the Champion’s League and will look to build on that momentum.

However, Arsenal have one person on their squad who is dead set on not allowing a Blue’s victory. That man is the newest member of Arsenal, Petr Cech. Cech would be starting for Chelsea at this very moment if they had kept him, with Thibaut Courtouis down due to surgery. You can bet that Petr Cech wants Chelsea to rue their decision to bench him. This was the club that Cech had lived for, but now he wants nothing more than to beat them.
“I go to a familiar place but most important for me will be to win the game. That’s the way it goes,” he said via the Mirror. It is going to be an emotional match up, to return ‘home’ as the enemy, but Petr Cech has a new home now. He is quite simply not going to allow Arsenal to lose this clash.
Here is a graphic depicting just how stoic Cech has been as compared to Chelsea’s new back up.
With Cech organizing the back line and with Gabriel, Laurent Koscielny and Francis Coquelin directly ahead of him, Arsenal can stifle anyone. This is a defensive quartet that should terrify the opposition. Petr Cech will be in control of positioning but the three athletes in front of him will keep him protected. These four have to breed the confidence that 1 goal will be enough.

That being said, 1 has not always been an easy number to come by. Arsenal have relied on own goals to get to where they are. However they have been coming around lately and this Chelsea defense is struggling mightily. All Petr Cech has to do is keep his wits and this Arsenal defense will not surrender.
Being a seasoned veteran, keeping his wits should not be a trying task. It may be an emotional vortex, not wearing Blue at Stamford Bridge, but Petr Cech knows what he must do. There is no one more determined to continue Chelsea’s skid than Petr Cech. It is not very often that one man can influence a match so much but we will see Cech do just that on Saturday.
