Arsenal saw red twice in Saturday’s encounter at Stamford Bridge, with the game being effectively ruined after Gabriel’s sending off. While the attacking display was largely non-existent before being down a man, Arsenal were left to chase shadows for most of the second half. Here are your player ratings:

7.2. Let down by poor marking for the first, no chance with the second.  . GK. Arsenal FC. PETR CECH

Loose game from the Spaniard. Passing was a bit off, but was understandably hesitant to drive forward too often with Hazard to worry about.. RB. Arsenal FC. HECTOR BELLERIN. 6.0

5.0. Baited by Diego Costa, he rose to it and shouldn’t have, but the referee bungled this one. Make no mistake. Good game up until then.. CB. Arsenal FC. GABRIEL

Arsenal FC. LAURENT KOSCIELNY. 6.9. Took a shove in the face from Costa, then a slap, then a chest. Remained calm and had a couple good blocks around the edge of the area.. CB

7.0. A pretty quiet day for Monreal, which is essentially the highest compliment.. LB. Arsenal FC. NACHO MONREAL

MAN OF THE MATCH- Was excellent until being subbed off. His continued rise in quality is genuinely startling. The Arsenal faithful will be desperate to hear he’s healthy.. MID. Arsenal FC. FRANCIS COQUELIN. 7.5

5.5. Again, not much came off for him today. Saw red as well for an unwise challenge on Fabregas.. MID. Arsenal FC. SANTI CAZORLA

Arsenal FC. MESUT OZIL. 6.0. Not a good day at the office. Didn’t help Arsenal transition into the rare counterattacks particularly well.. MID

6.0. Not good and at this rate is verging on becoming an attacking liability.. MID. Arsenal FC. ALEXIS SANCHEZ

Arsenal FC. THEO WALCOTT. 7.0. While Theo gives Arsenal pace, you sacrifice a great deal. Unable to hold the ball up, a poor passer, he’s not a center forward. His best weapon is his runs, but was consistently offside and didn’t aid at all in any sweeping counter.. ST

6.8. Had a good couple tackles on Diego Costa. Unlucky to be the deflection for Chelsea’s second.. CB. Arsenal FC. CALUM CHAMBERS

Arsenal FC. ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN. 6.5. Came on to chase the game. Ran around a bit.. MID

6.5. Would have liked to see him at the beginning of the second half and Oxlade-Chamberlain introduced later on. When down to 10 men, Olivier Giroud’s ability to be a pressure release valve at the halfway line and his set piece ability would serve Arsenal well.. ST. Arsenal FC. OLIVIER GIROUD
