Arsene Wenger’s Love For Arsenal Will Not Go Unrewarded
By Josh Sippie
There are plenty out there calling for an end to Arsene Wenger’s reign at Arsenal. They claim he has become diluted, lost in the past and a cheapskate. The “Wenger Out” army grows every day, mostly from a lack of transfer movement. Now that Francis Coquelin is out, it is being felt more than ever. The prospect of seeing Mikel Arteta on the pitch again in a defensive role is horrifying.

However, Arsene Wenger has to deserve some sort of credit. Yes, his greatest success at Arsenal came over a decade ago. But he has brought the team back from financial destitution following the building of the Emirates and we are in a position now where, given the right plan of attack, we can seriously compete. Arsenal just need that kickstart or that fire.
Arsene Wenger lives for this club. If you needed any proof of this, we can look at the recent happenings in his personal life. It has been reported that he and his wife have split, with his prolonged stay at Arsenal being the culprit. Maybe it is a bit twisted to look at it this way, but this is a huge testament to the belief and the faith he has in this team. He wants what is best for this team, that cannot be questioned.
Sometimes, Wenger’s methods are easily questioned, however. Why he did not sign a defensive midfielder is one easy question to ask. Maybe we will understand it down the road when his grand plan takes effect, but as of right now, we are left fretting over who will cover for Coquelin.
His lack of signing another world-class player to go along the lines of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez is a bit more understandable. Petr Cech has the potential to be that guy. He just was not as expensive as a big signing tends to be. Plus, the availability of players was incredibly lacking. Arsene Wenger continued to hit at that and people doubted him. Yet we know for a fact that Karim Benzema and Edinson Cavani were not for sale. So then who? Pay what United did for Anthony Martial? I don’t think that would have went over well.

With how much Arsene Wenger loves this team and with how much he has invested in it, he is going to hit another successful spell. He just needs a little bit of acclimation. He needs to brush up on things a bit. Even the most staunch doubters have to admit that this club has a fantastic base of talent. The starting XI, on paper, is one of the best in the game. They create chances with ease and eventually those chances will find the back of the net. Look at what happened at the tail-end of last year.
Depth is the major question and we are being forced to find answers again. Beyond this potentially stoic starting XI, Arsenal is weak. With some crucial depth signings, Arsenal’s internal competition can kickstart this club.
Arsene Wenger will take this club back to the promised land. Bank on it.
