Arsenal May Land Alexandre Lacazette After All

The situation may be unfolding exactly how Arsene Wenger dreamed it would. He passed on spending upwards of £40 million on Alexandre Lacazette the first time around. Now he may benefit in a much more reasonable price come January. The French striker has not at all followed up on his success last campaign. He has struggled with injury problems and often floats around the pitch looking uninspired. Changes of scenery can fix these things. Arsenal would be a change in scenery.

All of this stems from the treatment that Alexandre Lacazette received over the summer. Through all the transfer speculation, the Frenchman did not look like a great person. He has revealed that even his own grandmother hit out at his behavior, according to FourFourTwo. You know you are in the wrong when your grandmother calls you out.

But Lacazette feels that he was not in the wrong. He feels as though he was portrayed negatively by the club and the club president, Jean-Michel Aulas. Lacazette and Aulas have a history of not exactly seeing eye to eye. That is no sort of environment that guys want to play in.

Compare it to Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Once he finally made it to Barcelona, his dream was stunted by Pep Guardiola, a manager that simply did not mesh with him.

Even with Aulas being a club president, having that negative presence lurking that high up in the club has to play a toll on Lacazette’s psyche.

Lacazette has hinted numerous times that he may be better off playing somewhere else. Lyon is planning to open a new stadium soon so as not to lose their big name guys, but Alexandre Lacazette may be a lost cause.

The Premier League would suit the Franchman’s needs. His speed and physical presence make him a strong contender to be an instant hit in the Premier League. With Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United all fairly confident in their striking options, Arsenal look to be the prime contenders, according to FourFourTwo. And why shouldn’t they be?

Theo Walcott is a consistent injury threat. Olivier Giroud’s confidence is shakier than ever. Arsenal could use a striking option that provides them with another potential world-class star. At just 24 years of age, he has plenty of time to learn and grow with Arsenal as well.

A trifecta of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Alexandre Lacazette would be devastating. We have already seen a devastating Gunner attack with Theo Walcott at the front. Imagine what a physical, more clinical Walcott would do for Arsenal? Not only that, but Lacazette is superb on the ball and possesses a great long shot as well.

The big question is price. As it always is. Will Arsene Wenger pay?
