Arsenal’s Ideal Starting XI To Face Bayern Munich
By Josh Sippie
Gabriel Paulista and Laurent Koscielny
Gabriel Paulista was kept out of the lineup against Watford due to illness. It was revealed that Laurent Koscielny was the one that had to fill in. That means that it was the BFG, Per Mertesacker, who was the first choice center back against the Hornets. Not the worst choice in the world considering the fact that Mertesacker will probably not be suiting up against the giants from his home country.
Arsenal is going to need proactive defenders. Gabriel and Koscielny are the best possible options. Together they are fantastic and Arsenal still have yet to surrender a goal with the Brazilian on the pitch. Why not ride that streak for as long as humanly possible?
The big question is whether Gabriel will have had time enough to recover from his illness. Mertesacker would not be out of his element by any means against Bayern but Gabriel and Koscielny would be a much more stoic central pairing.
