In case you have not heard, Arsenal is on a momentum binge. They are beating everyone. Even Bayern Munich (I have to get that in at least once per article). But the short rest periods are going to start leading to some major squad rotations.

This competition is the lesser of the four competitions that Arsenal is involved in. The football league cup. But it is the Round of 16 now and it’s getting down to the nitty gritty. Any trophy is a good trophy, even in this competition.

With Sheffield Wednesday as the next opponent, after just another two days of rest, Arsenal are going to see some major changes. We are not going to see the same squad that faced Everton. Not by a long shot.

First of all, it is all but guaranteed that Alexis Sanchez will not even be in uniform. The Chilean has been his usual self lately. That means he has been tormenting the opposition and bolting from touch line to touch line. He is going to rest. Arsene Wenger may have trouble sitting him, but he will find no such trouble on Tuesday.

That takes a tremendous amount of energy out of the group, but a club like Arsenal has to have the depth to compete at multiple levels. It was a lack of depth that cost Aaron Ramsey his hamstring. We did not have anyone of his quality capable of starting against Bayern Munich after the short layoff.

All things considered, this is a monstrously tough starting XI to predict. Arsene Wenger has a lot of players with not a lot of play time to sort through. The result is going to be a plethora of question marks.

Let’s get started with our best bet at what Wenger will do.
