Arsenal face Swansea at the weekend with both teams current status largely up to personal interpretation. Arsenal had been rolling but a loss to Sheffield Wednesday interrupted their momentum. Granted, it should have no lingering effects, losses can be sickening little things.

Meanwhile, Swansea City finally won another game. Prior to their grind against Aston Villa, the Swans had scored just three goals in their previous six games. Hard to win doing that. However, Swansea is still a team that poses a significant threat, as we saw from their early season form.

With goals likely to be incoming, we decided to take you back to three of the more memorable goals between Arsenal and Swansea.

Let’s start in the 2013 FA Cup. Arsenal faced the Swans in the third round with the match coming at the Liberty Stadium. It was a hard-fought affair that ended 2-2, prompting a replay at the Emirates. The most memorable goal of the match had to be the sensational volley by Kieran Gibbs. Have a look:

Oh, the days when Gibbs was healthy. Then again, he never really was.

Next up comes a goal from the replay of the FA Cup third round. With a result needed, the Swans visited the Emirates. The match finished 1-0 in Arsenal’s favor with this being the clincher.

Of course it had to be scored by Jack Wilshere. Nothing like reminding us of just how talented the guy is. Arsenal would go on to the fifth round before they were knocked out by Blackburn Rovers.

Finally, we hearken back to a not-so-happy memory. One that reminds us that goal line technology does not always work in Mesut Ozil’s favor. The match was on May 11 of last season. Arsenal were riding an 11 game unbeaten streak when suddenly, in spite of David Ospina’s mad finger waving ability, this happened:

But we cannot end on a sour note. We will now jump back one game to a beautiful team goal scored by, well, you can figure it out:

It was a beautiful team goal, with the Ox beginning the run with his token pace and laying it off to Santi Cazorla. Cazorla’s seeking ball finds Danny Welbeck who;’s on-a-dime stop left him wide open with options to choose from. He chose right in finding Alexis Sanchez.

The Swans are a pesky team and Arsenal will have their work cut out for them. Let’s hope that Gibbs and Wilshere can come through for us again. Oh wait.
