It’s that time again. Time to go into the Allianze Arena and beat Bayern Munich. It has happened before. It will happen again. Then, Arsenal will be right back into the thick of their Champions League group, having taken the most difficult route possible.

Robert Lewandowski and Manuel Neuer have both spoken up about the only club this year to have made them look mortal – Arsenal. Lewandowski claims that they are ready and Neuer claims that they were guilty of underestimating their opponent. Whatever the case, Arsenal knows that they can beat Bayern Munich and that actually goes a long way. A lot of the power that Bayern possesses comes from the mantra of being impenetrable.

Gabriel Paulista has spoken up for Arsenal, saying via Goal.com: “We are a big team, we are Arsenal and we need to attack because we need the result, but we need to attack with intelligence and make sure we don’t suffer a defeat and complicate our situation for the rest of our competition.”

Arsenal played a very interesting style of football last time out against Bayern. They controlled around 30% of possession, letting the German’s take the wheel and dictate the game. In return, Arsenal unleashed their now quite popular counter-attacking play. It worked brilliantly. While it took late into the game for the breakthrough to come, it came, with Olivier Giroud falling face first into the ball, which found the back of the net.

No one said it had to be pretty.

Mesut Ozil sealed the deal when his goal was proven by goal line technology. Suddenly, Arsenal was back in the Champions League and ready to rock.

For this starting XI prediction, we do have several questions to answer. Injuries and exhaustion are going to be serious factors yet again as Wenger goes to select his squad. But he needs to pick with diligence. Putting our best players out there is incredibly important, even at the risk of injury. Due to Arsenal’s gross lack of depth, there is a lot on the line in this match.

Plus, Bayern Munich went scoreless in their last match against Frankfurt. As if they needed more inspiration.

Let’s start where we always do, at the back, at keeper, where we probably will not be seeing Matt Macey.
