Ainsley Maitland-Niles Only Arsenal Man Enjoying Loan Time
By Josh Sippie
Ainsley-Maitland Niles appears to be the only outfield Arsenal man that is still enjoying his time out on loan. Enjoying as in he is still a starter and he is not being heavily criticized.
Just in case you have not heard the news, Arsenal’s loaned out youngsters are having a bit of a hard time recently. Daniel Crowley has been returned for not being a team player, supposedly. Yet Barnsley manager Lee Johnson had nothing but praise and adoration to heap on young Crowley, saying that the world was literally at his fingertips.

Then there is the first-team-Arsenal ready Serge Gnabry, who despite being good enough for the Arsenal first team, is only good enough for the West Brom U21 reserves. The Baggies lost again, by the way.

Gedion Zelalem had an excellent beginning to his time with Rangers but has now been the most heavily criticized member of the team. He is being referred to as weak, timid, cowardly, and lacking in any sort of passion.

Yeah, we care about the academy here at Pain in the Arsenal. Aside form those three, Chuba Akpom is hit or miss at Hull. He sits being first choice striker Abel Hernandez. Isaac Hayden and Jon Toral have been used primarily as subs. Wojciech Szczesny wants to come home. Emiliano Martinez is probably enjoying his time, having as many saves as he does.
But in terms of outfield players, it is just Ainsley Maitland-Niles holding down the happiness in the loan brigade. The young Englishman is a regular at Ipswich Town and it seems that he has taken a liking to the club he is at. That seems to be the main problem with Crowley, Szczesny, Gnabry and Zelalem. They either do not like the club they are at or they have been loaned into a system that does not suit their style of play.
But not Maitland-Niles.
“I’m learning a lot more, I feel like I’m fitting in well and I think a lot of that’s down to the players and the manager”, he said, via the East Anglian Daily Times.
Niles is the prime example of how a loan is supposed to work. He is fitting in with his team, playing for his team, and learning that way. Whatever the cause, some of the players Arsenal have loaned out are just not getting the same experience.
Either way, at least someone out there is improving from their loan deal. Between Martinez and Maitland-Niles, Arsenal have two guys to be excited about having back to see how much they have improved.
