Arsenal got stomped in Germany by a Bayern Munich side that was out for blood. A draw would have been wonderful. But alas, Arsenal still find their Champions League climb as difficult as ever. Arsenal have to beat Olympiakos and Dinamo Zagreb if they even want a chance. From there, it will come down to Bayern Munich laying down the law against those two as well.

In the other match of the group, Dinamo Zagreb appeared ready to do Arsenal a major favor by stealing points from Olympiakos but the pesky Greeks fought back and won the game by a score of two-nil.

That leaves Group F looking fairly conclusive, yet we know that Arsenal is not done just yet. Here is a look at the updated table:

[table id=73 /]

It’s not pretty, but as mentioned, it is not over. If Arsenal can pull out two wins against Olympiakos and Dinamo Zagreb, they will have nine points. Olympiakos probably also lose to Bayern Munich, which leaves them at nine points. Given that they have a zero goal differential already, they will go into the negatives with two losses, at least to negative two, but probably more.

More from European Comps

Arsenal, meanwhile, will have to win each by at least one goal, which puts their goal differential at a minimum of negative two. The exact same as Olympiakos minimum. That means that Arsenal is still somewhat in control of their own destiny and that should help us sleep at night. Going into Greece is not going to be easy but the Gunners have the squad quality to take the full three points.

The problem is that it has to be the full three. Any draw eliminates Arsenal as soon as it happens.

The Gunners aren’t done. Bayern Munich can actually give Arsenal a boost by laying a 5-1 shellacking on the Greeks like they did to Arsenal.
