Karim Benzema To Arsenal Nightmare Begins Again

When it is quiet out there, with Real Madrid and Karim Benzema happily coexisting, if you listen closely enough you can hear the Jaws theme song slowly building. You know what is coming but you cannot prevent it. Lurking out there is a beast too big for the human spirit to overcome. And so you let it consume you. Perhaps you even buy into it. That is a fate worse than death.

I am of course speaking of the rumors linking Karim Benzema to Arsenal. You know, the one’s that ruined your entire summer. Karim Benzema was on the plane to London, he had his papers signed, he was even having a tinkle in the rest room at the Emirates after trying on his No. 9 kit. Then suddenly he had disappeared, only to reappear sitting in the Real Madrid locker room calling Arsenal a bunch of clowns.

It was like having the rug pulled out from underneath you. Then standing back up only to find that the there was another rug, and that was pulled out from underneath you. And then you realized that you were standing on a stack of one 100 rugs and you were in for a long night.

Well, in case you did not get enough of that feeling the first time, you have a second chance. Karim Benzema is yet again being linked to Arsenal (as cited by the Telegraph).

Benzema has missed considerable time this year, but apparently in his spare time he was getting involved in leaking his national team mate’s sex tapes. To each his own. All of that off-pitch hubbub reminded us that he had previously had another run in with the law involving under-age prostitutes in France.

Needless to say, dating Rihanna was the least of his questionable off-field antics.

But if those moves were enough to drive a wedge in between him and Real Madrid, then who better to swoop in for the transfer than a team who hands out fines for smoking cigarettes?

This is just another attempt to kick up dust. The slightest dysphoria surrounding Karim Benzema is going to be taken as an opportunity to tie him to Arsenal. No matter what pictures and cryptic messages are put up on Benzema’s instagram, we are better prepared to fend off such hopes this time around.

And besides, Olivier Giroud has been pretty darn good this year. And completely healthy and scandal free.
