Arsenal Wonderkid Vlad Dragomir Emerges From Obscurity With Wonder Goal (Video)
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal sign quite the healthy portion of wonderkids, so it only makes sense that one or two are going to take a backseat and let the older wonderkids drive. The past two transfer windows have been absolutely full of wonderkid signings. Krystian Bielik, Jeff-Reine Adelaide, Yassin Fortune – and that’s just naming three because it’s all I could think of off the top of my head. Vlad Dragomir was not one of the front runners.

In fact, when trying to remind myself of who “that Romanian kid” was, I frequently ended up calling him Vladomir Drogba in my head. Not that far off, really.
As far as what was known about him, the Metro points it out perfectly: “the only info Gunners’ fans had about Vlad Dragomir when he arrived in June was that he cost £100,000 (£71,000), he captained Romania under-16s and he played in midfield.” Too true. Also, the fact that Arsene Wenger hand picked him has to count for something. But in the end, the fact that he turned up from the Romanian youth side at Arsene Wenger’s behest left a great degree of mystery surrounding Arsenal’s newest toy.

The initial reports were nonexistent. But one thing did happen. Arsenal fans were acquainted with Vlad Dragomir’s Instagram. And you thought Jack Wilshere’s was bad. Dragomir did not necessarily do anything wrong, he just posted rather racy pictures of himself, women, and champagne bottles places strategically on beds. It was all rather questionable, seeing as how he is just 16. But what do I know, I’m not his father. Let the kid have fun.
Aside from that, there was nothing. Until now. In the Arsenal U-21 win over Norwich’s U-21, Dragomir notched a goal on a pitch that appeared to be in someone’s backyard, but thankfully someone was recording.
