Arsenal’s Injury Situation Sorting Itself Out During International Break

It has been awhile since Arsenal got some good news regarding their injury list. It has been more names added instead of names being removed. But this International Break could not have come at a better time. Three Gunners are set to return to the fray when play resumes (according to the Express).

The three that are returning are Hector Bellerin, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. It is really difficult to decide which of them is the most exciting to have back. Each one will fill a need that Arsenal has been painfully lacking during their absence.

Hector Bellerin has to be the most exciting to have back, however. While Mathieu Debuchy was by no means awful, he was not Hector Bellerin. The young Spaniard has spoiled us with his dynamic antics and it has become a case of Bellerin or bust at right back. He is just that good.

Bellerin’s rampaging runs and surprisingly deft touches have been sorely missed on the right side of the pitch. As too has his recovery speed when an opposing player slips down the left touchline.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Aaron Ramsey has been missed as well. While he lessened the width of Arsenal, that was okay with Bellerin overlapping. Ramsey was a controlling force in the midfield, one that Martin Keown figured as the key missing piece against Tottenham.

The Welshman had just netted his first goal when he hit the injury list and you can bet he will be gunning to return to the scoresheet. He has the ability to be absolutely dynamic. His control and presence on the ball is something that Arsenal have been lacking.

Finally, there is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. This was supposed to be his year. The Ox was supposed to claim the right wing spot and never let it go. Especially after his beautiful goal against Chelsea in the FA Community Shield. But since then it has not been too friendly of a year. The Ox has had his opportunities but they have fallen by the wayside. And then he got hurt… again.

The Ox has work to do. With Joel Campbell stepping up and asserting himself, the Ox is going to have to rebound and step up, lest he fall to third choice on the right side of the pitch.

Arsenal have been missing significant depth since these three went out. Having them back will be like a breath of fresh air. Now the trick is keeping them healthy.
