Mesut Ozil Broke Another Assist Record For Arsenal
By Josh Sippie
Even with it being international break, Mesut Ozil is still breaking records. It’s just something he does in his spare time. It’s not like we need to sing his praises more, but we are going to go ahead and do it anyway. Mesut Ozil is a phenomenal talent and his success at Arsenal is not coincidentally coinciding with Arsenal’s overall success. The two are related. They are intertwined.

Mesut Ozil has ten assists on the year. Ten. That’s a lot. It’s so much in fact, that he has become the fastest player in Premier League history to ten assists. That’s right, another record torn asunder.
The Daily Star counted down the top ten players to have made it to ten assists the fastest and after wading through several seasons of Cesc Fabregas, we arrived at number one. Mesut Ozil. In just eleven matches, the German maestro has put up ten assists.
That is the third record this month that has fallen by the wayside to the marauding German assist king. First, he became the most frequent assister of all time, dropping an assist in every 2.71 appearances. That number has since gotten even more impressive given that he is recording assists every match.

Then, Mesut Ozil became the only player in Premier League history to record an assist in six straight matches. No big deal. Ozil has officially made it a bizarre occurrence for him not to record an assist.
And now this, the fastest player ever to ten assists. Just know that if there is an assist record out there, Mesut Ozil will find it (see what I did there?). The German has become such a hit at Arsenal that he has had to find other parts of his game to improve on, seeing as how his passing attributes have been maxed out.
Mesut Ozil is unhappy with the number of goals that he scores. He is not satisfied with five or seven goals, he wants more. Ambition is an addictive thing.

Ozil has revealed that he has been taking extra shooting practice during Arsenal training so that he can up that goal tally. He is, after all, pegging for the Ballon d’Or.
The main problem with him learning to score goals is that it will hurt his assist numbers. If he scores them, who will assist? He cannot assist himself. Then again, knowing Mesut Ozil, he will find a way to pass himself the perfectly seen ball and then place it into the bottom corner. Innovation at its finest.
