3. Probable Cause

The reports are stating that Lionel Messi wants to move to London to avoid Spanish tax authorities. If you had not been laughing at the rumor yet, you can now. Hiding from authorities is not just cause to leave a team that you have spent your entire life with, a team that is built around you, for a new country. That is not how the real world works.

And even with how seemingly inhuman Lionel Messi plays, he is still a human being in the real world. You don’t just move to a new country when tax authorities are breathing down your neck.

Lionel Messi would have to have probable cause to ditch life in Catalonia. Maybe a fall-out with team mates, a fallout with higher-ups in the club or a change in team policy or tactics. Something like that. Something that would alter the game of someone who lives for the game.

Tax authorities will not be enough to drive off Lionel Messi.

Moving on to number two, we start getting real with what Lionel Messi is and what a move like this would do to him.
