Arsenal’s Top 10 Home Kits of All Time
By Josh Sippie
5. 2005/6
Jumping just one year back from the completion of the Fly Emirates partnership, the 2005 jerseys were one of only two kit’s since the introduction of the red/white sleeve combo not to use that combo. Instead, these kits were used to commemorate Arsenal’s time at Highbury and hearken back to the time when Arsenal’s every day shirts were this redcurrant.
Arsenal had been at Higbury since 1913 and it was sewn into a patch just above the sponsor logo. Much like the 2006/7 kits were signifying the opening of a new Arsenal chapter, these classic 2005/6 kits were signifying the closing of an Arsenal chapter, essentially one of the first Arsenal chapters.
With the building of the Emirates, Arsenal were acclimatizing to modern day football.
