Kits are all about iconic, irreplaceable aspects that make it completely identifiable with the squad that coined it. The 1933 kits gave Arsenal one of their most iconic aspects, next to the red and the cannon – the white sleeves.

Under Herbert Chapman, Arsenal were ‘modernized’ into the beginnings of the Arsenal we see now. Chapman added players numbers to the backs of the shirts, he modernized training and he officially made the club name simply ‘Arsenal.’
Obviously all of these made a huge impact on Arsenal and the game in general, but Herbert Chapman also brought the white sleeves to distinguish the club.
Arsenal also won the league in 1933, the first of a three-peat that would include the next two years. Needless to say the sleeves were here to stay.
