Arsenal’s Top 10 Prospects: An In-Depth Look at the Gunner’s Future

10. Jon Toral
Toral is 20, but he’s still learning and growing. As we learned from Francis Coquelin, a player can hit his stride at any point and prove his worth. Toral could be another such case.
He’s made some sporadic appearances for the Arsenal first team squad, but continues to find playing time through loans. He was also seen featuring for Arsenal in the preseason.
Regularly a central midfielder, Toral has the versatility to play anything from holding midfielder to winger. He’s tallied several goals across different competitions and despite his advancing age, he still has the potential to make an impact on Arsenal’s future.
Toral is on loan this year at Birmingham City and is benefiting greatly from the first team starts. “I have to thank the team and the gaffer for giving me the confidence. It’s been a great start for me and I need to keep it going,” he said via BBC Sport.
Birmingham gaffer Gary Rowett was full of praise for Toral, particularly with the young Spaniard having netted a goal already. “Jon has an instinct to read the game well and get in good positions. When he gets into goal-scoring positions he’s got real composure – that’s two in two league games now.”
All of this bodes well for the future of Jon Toral.
