Alexis Sanchez Christmas Ad Brings Joy To Everyone

Alexis Sanchez has taken some time to star in a Christmas ad in Chile. The big question is, does he have a future in Hollywood?

Commercials come in many shapes and sizes. 90% are painful, often excruciatingly so. They make you wonder who the marketing person was that approved that ad and if they still have a job. If so, why? 5% are practical and you think to yourself, ‘What are they having? Because I’ll have it too’. 1% have Samuel L. Jackson in them. The last 4% leave you scratching your head, unsure of which category it should fall into. Here is a pie chart breakdown:

That 4% is where Alexis Sanchez’s Christmas ad falls into. Complete the following mathematical equation: James Bond + Christmas + Alexis Sanchez in a suit, dancing = ?

The answer can be a multitude of things, from ‘Awesome’ to ‘Radical’. It sounds like a recipe for success. As the saying goes, ‘Put Alexis Sanchez anywhere and he will succeed’ (according to Plato). But sometimes life is not that easy.

Here, stop listening to me blabber, take a look for yourself (from the Mirror):

Perhaps now you want to rethink your answer to that mathematical equation. Turning Alexis Sanchez into a super suave, partying, James Bond type only makes sense. It’s how he plays football, so it’s probably how he acts socially. But the result is not quite so easy. From the awkward smile and strange, Western/hipster dance entourage, to the choice of song, it is pretty clear that Alexis Sanchez is much better suited for the pitch.

But it’s not like everyone succeeds on their first try. It took Mesut Ozil a whole year to get his feet underneath him. Give Alexis Sanchez a year on the big screen and he will be the next John Wayne. Just take my word for it.

On the bright side, Arsenal and Alexis Sanchez (possibly) will be back on the pitch to take on West Brom. The Chilean struggled against Uruguay like he struggled to bust out semi-impressive dance moves. Time to put it all behind us as soon as possible.

On the sentimental side, let’s remember that Alexis Sanchez did always return to Chile to be Santi Claus in his home town of Tocopilla. The Chilean has never lost his roots. He is embedded in that home town. It is a part of who he is and no matter what stardom finds him, Alexis Sanchez will never let it go to his head. That is why the closing scene of the commercial redeems it.

Oh, and Merry Christmas?
