Mathieu Debuchy and Nacho Monreal
Hector Bellerin looked bad against West Brom. He looked rusty and just plan not ready. It was shocking and it was tough to watch. Bellerin has been fantastic all year and we know what he is capable of. Seeing him give up possession and pass erratically was so unlike him that we almost need a palate cleanser.
Given that he is fresh off of injury, however, Wenger is not going to test his fitness too much. Especially with him playing poorly. Mathieu Debuchy is still a quality defender. It’s not like the Francis Coquelin to Mikel Arteta downgrade. Debuchy was a world-class right back when he came to Arsenal but Bellerin and injuries got in the way. Now that he has shaken off some rust, the Frenchman should be ready to go.
Nacho Monreal was not awful against West Brom. It was interesting seeing two left backs lining up on the same side with him and Kieran Gibbs. However, at the end of the day it is always going to be Nacho Monreal that gets the nod in must-win games, as long as he is fit.
