Arsene Wenger And Arsenal Could Learn A Lot From Black Friday
Arsenal are badly in need of reinforcements and Arsene Wenger could use a dose of American sensibility on this Black Friday.
So just as I thought, Arsenal smashed Dinamo Zagreb 3-0 at the Emirates to keep our hopes of qualifying from the Champions League group stage alive. We will head to Greece with our destiny in hand. Hopefully we can avoid falling into the Europa league. It was great to see our best players step up once again when we needed them. Alexis Sanchez got back to his scoring ways, snapping a troubling goal drought in fine form. Mesut Ozil has without a doubt been Arsenal’s best player this season. The German continued his dazzling purple patch with an uncharacteristic headed goal.

It was fantastic to see Aaron Ramsey and Hector Bellerin return to action. These are two players we badly need. Their skill and versatility were sorely missed before the international break, and Ramsey’s absence was certainly felt away at The Hawthorns. However, there is one thing that the win against Zagreb can not paper over, and that is the fact that Arsenal still badly need depth.
Against Tottenham, bringing on Keiran Gibbs as a second half substitution was a stroke of brilliance on Wenger’s part. The Englishman came on and got a much needed goal. However the fact that Arsenal had to field him on the left wing again is just downright sad. Furthermore, every Gooner and his mum knew that Francis Coquelin would eventually get injured or suspended yet Arsene Wenger chose to leave the defensive midfield position threadbare. How many times do we have to say this? Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini are not good enough!

It’s nothing against them. Flamini is apparently a super hero and Arteta has been a very loyal soldier for the North London club. But the former thinks he’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the latter can’t stay on the pitch with out breaking his hip.
Of course that is hyperbole, but seriously, Arsenal need to do something here. As an American, naturally I believe I have a solution. Spend some damn money!
Preferably a lot of it. In the states we have a slightly ridiculous tradition of eating ourselves into a coma while watching men slam into each other. Then we wake up early and trample our neighbors in order to buy a $5, 40″ flat screen TV, or whatever. I don’t actually know, I’ve never been myself. But that doesn’t mean it’s not a good idea, to some degree at least.
Arsene Wenger needs to act like he is an American on Black Friday this transfer window, and I have the perfect wishlist for him. The results speak for themselves. Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are paying dividends. Maybe we should get a few more of those, huh?

I’m sure there are a few bargains out there that Le Prof can grab before the lines get to long. He simply needs to do his research, clip his coupons and, again I mean this respectfully, SPEND SOME DAMN MONEY.
Losing Francis Coquelin is the equivalent of having your refrigerator break down. You don’t say “well let’s keep the door closed, I’m sure the food won’t spoil”, you go out and buy new fridge! I don’t care if it’s Granit Xhaka for €20 million, Lars Bender for nearly the same amount or even William Carvalho for €30 million, just get us a new fridge so our season doesn’t melt before our eyes.
