1. Mesut Ozil Can Score

Mesut Ozil is becoming an offensive juggernaut. His stats for Arsenal do not look anything like what we could have ever expected. Consider what he did against Norwich. His five shots were more than any two of his team mates combined. He, of course, had a share of the team lead in key passes. But he also completed 98.5% of his 68 passes. For those into the math game, that means that he only misplaced one pass. One. He was four for four in long ball accuracy.

But it was not his passing that impressed me. His passing cannot impress me anymore. What should have grabbed us all was his shooting. His finish from Alexis Sanchez’s beautiful pass was, well, beautiful. He fired another shot that was deflected and another one of his efforts was cleared away by the last line of defense (though it might have gone wide).

But the point is that Mesut Ozil is starting to become a bonafide weapon at more than just passing. There was a time when Ozil was afraid to shoot. He would always look to lay the ball off to an Arsenal team mate. Now he is not afraid to cut loose. As opposing teams, that should be scary.
