Aaron Ramsey Facing Greatest Opportunity Of Arsenal Career
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal have a mass of injury woes. But as has been covered on numerous occasions, injuries breed opportunities. Aaron Ramsey is facing a massive opportunity.
ESPNFC has pointed out that Aaron Ramsey must capitalize on this chance that has opened up at Arsenal. I would take it a few steps beyond that and say that this is the biggest opportunity of the Welshman’s club career.

Whereas in previous opportunity-grabbing situations, Aaron Ramsey has also had to capitalize on his chances, this one is different. This one could make or break Arsenal’s season. The midfielder has been confined to right wing duties ever since his injuries struck last year. Santi Cazorla took over the role and Wenger wrongly let Cazorla keep it even when Ramsey came back. Even despite what Ramsey had managed to do from the central midfield role both last year and during his stunning 2013/14 campaign.

With Santi Cazorla set to miss a massive three months, Aaron Ramsey has the chance to return the favor. If he can become his 2013/14 self, Arsene Wenger will have no choice but to run with Aaron Ramsey at the central role. Ramsey has stated on numerous occasions that he wants that center midfield role. This is Arsenal, where you have to earn everything you get. Time to earn it.
But it will not be as easy as putting in quality performances. Joel Campbell did that at right wing and Wenger still lacked faith in the Costa Rican. Ramsey will have to pull off a Hector Bellerin like coup and leave no room for doubt that he is the best man for the job. He is in the prime of his career and if he wants to spend those years at his favored position, instead of waiting it out for Santi Cazorla to vacate the premises, then this is his chance. Santi Cazorla is never hurt. Ramsey may never find himself with a similar opportunity.

Not only that, but this opportunity gives Ramsey the chance to become a central figure in Arsenal’s title push. This team needs a boost like a spaceship with a car battery (rough simile). But we have seen Aaron Ramsey be that boost in the past. All he has to do is replicate that success. 2013/14 cannot be settled on as the anomaly of Ramsey’s career. It was the last year he found consistent playing time as a central midfielder. Well, guess what? He controls his own destiny now.
The faith that Arsene Wenger has continued to show in Aaron Ramsey will pay off yet again. Just watch.
