3. It means more internal competition

Nothing spurs a guy to do his best like seeing a comrade playing next to him, doing better. Mesut Ozil is the undisputed king of the team right now. But Aaron Ramsey is a very ambitious, very confident player. He wants to be the focal point of this team. If he sees Mesut Ozil running away with that honor, then he will fight hard to claim it for his own. We are not the only people who remember 2013/14. Ramsey does too.

So what we have here is two prized stallions busting it down the track, trying to get their nose in front of another. Or at least that’s the idea. Who doesn’t benefit from that? Aaron Ramsey gets better. Mesut Ozil gets better, if that’s possible. Arsenal gets better. Everyone around these two will get better. When they are picking guys out with passes that leave no option but to score, everyone flourishes.

Taking that further into the future, this will spur Santi Cazorla as well. He will be watching when Aaron Ramsey flourishes in this role yet again. He will be reminded of what it took for him to overtake Ramsey in the first place – an injury. Now that the tides are turned, Cazorla will be well aware of what it will take for him to get the role back. Again, everyone benefits.

Next up, the biggest difference between Aaron Ramsey and Santi Cazorla.
