5 Reasons Why Joel Cambell Should Be Arsenal’s First Choice
By Josh Sippie
4. Joel Campbell Can Score
Both of Joel Campbell’s Arsenal goals have been taken with such a degree of composure. It is hard to believe, when watching those goals, that those are his first two Premier League goals. Both were handled with such class and such coolness. And that looks to be the name of Campbell’s game.
Campbell is not a shoot-first guy. As we have seen in the Champions League, he is much more likely to wait out a charging team mate than fire a wild curler at the net. But when he does find himself in a position where it’s a shot on goal or nothing else, he knows how to pull the trigger and he knows how to score. In the two games where he scored goals for Arsenal, Campbell fired just five shots, three were on target and two went in. That’s a solid percentage.
The Ox has yet to find a consistent shot. He has shown a tremendous shot from distance, as we saw against Monaco. he has shown a beautiful lofted shot, as we saw against Chelsea. But he is a shoot-first kind of guy and when that is the case, wild, high-flying shots are not the best course of action.
Next up, number three.
