Arsenal Transfers: Picking One Player From Each Ligue 1 Side
By Josh Sippie
Guingamp: Nicolas Benezet
Again, not an easy decision. But there is one aspect of Benezet’s game that you will see every time you watch him that stands out. His work ethic. The Frenchman is always tracking back to defend. He has the versatility to play anywhere ahead of the front four, but no matter where he is, you can bet that he will be hounding the ball.

As such, he averages two tackles and an interception and a half per appearance despite being used primarily in forward roles. It’s hard to pinpoint where exactly he is at his best. Benezet has started five times as a left midfielder and scored only once. Yet he has started just once as a right-sided midfielder and scored twice and assisted once. None of that should be surprising when considering his intense work rate.
Despite a rather sour 73% pass completion, Benezet leads Guingamp in key passes per appearance with 2.3. Also, being just 24, he still has time to maximize his potential.
We are inching closer to the top half of the table. Next up is Ajaccio.
