Arsenal’s 10 Best Signings Ever Under Arsene Wenger
By Josh Sippie
6. Marc Overmars
Overmars was not at Arsenal long, but it is hard to argue the fact that his best years came at Arsenal. The creative midfielder was a genius on the pitch. He was a driving force behind Arsenal’s double and for the price of just £5 million, it was a steal.

The Dutchman was a fantastic winger with excellent pace. He was also very good when it came to scoring goals. He scored 25 times in 100 career appearances for Arsenal.
What makes Marc Overmars such a good signing is that after his three years at Arsenal, he never hit the same form again. it was like Arsenal bought him cheap and sold him at the peak of his value (£25 million). He was at the time the most expensive Dutch player ever bought.
It is a shame that Overmars was not around to be Invincible, but the man he cleared the way for was crucial to the Invincible cause, so maybe it is not such a shame. That man was Robert Pires, who was bought for about a third the price that Overmars was sold for. Now that’s good business.
