5 Fiercest Moments Between Arsene Wenger And Jose Mourinho
By Josh Sippie
5. The Referee Debate
One of the most recent spats between the two had to do with what can be said about referees. In the end Jose Mourinho ended up saying far more than anyone else. As usual, it cost him.

It all started when referee Mike Dean was pressured into giving Gabriel Paulista a red card for having his neck mauled by the manbearpig, Diego Costa. Arsene Wenger was notably incensed at the proceedings. He openly criticized Mike Dean and was not punished by the FA. Jose Mourinho had this to say (via SkySports):
"In this country, only one manager is not under pressure. Every other manager is. We cannot be below par. We have to meet the objectives. There is one outside that list, but good for him. You know who. The one who can speak about the referees before the game, after the game, can push people in the technical area, can moan, can cry in the morning in the afternoon, nothing happens. He can not achieve, keep his job, still be the king. In the rule book it says some managers can speak about the referees before and after games. Some others cannot. I am in the list of those who are punished if they speak about the referees."
It would only get worse for Jose Mourinho. After being drubbed 3-1 by Southampton at home, Mourinho decided to open his mouth again about referees and how they are “are afraid to give decisions for Chelsea.” He was slapped with a £50,000 fine and suspended for a game.
After a goalless draw against Dynamo Kiev, Mourinho tried on Wenger’s words for size and referred to the referees as “weak and naive,” (via SkySports).
Moving on, let’s talk about stupid people.
