Who remembers this media buffet? When Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho do not shake hands, it is like when the United States landed on the moon. Everyone knew about it. Everyone was talking about it. But that does not make it any less of a story and it does not mean that I will not continue to blow it out of proportion. The most recent lack of a handshake happened in their most recent engagement. Go figure. Chelsea downed Arsenal 2-0 thanks in part to referee Mike Dean’s decision. After the match, Wenger went straight down the tunnel. No handshakes would be had. Although it begs to be mentioned that they shook hands before the game.
Shaking hands is sort of like coaching 101. Everyone does it. No matter how tense it gets on the pitch, it is still a game and it is a professional atmosphere. Therefore you shake hands to signify that whatever happened was not personal.
Well, with Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho, it has always been personal. They did not shake hands after the Community Shield either. In fact, one would wonder if the two will ever shake hands again. Rest assured, if they do, you will hear about it.
