Arsenal ring in the New Year with a match up against Newcastle. Here are the eleven guys Arsenal should turn to to start the year on the right foot.

One mass of games is over as Arsenal have a brief week of regularity before moving into another mass of games. They will be looking to care care of Newcastle. The Magpies figure to be battling relegation all year and the Gunners are not going to be sympathizers to their cause.

Arsenal need to establish some breathing room at the top of the table. They are currently level on points with Leicester and within ten points of eight other EPL teams. Points are crucial.

Here are the eleven guys Arsenal will roll with to accomplish the goal of three points.

Petr Cech

With David Ospina inching close to the exit door, Cech may find himself exactly where he has been all year – as the only goalie Arsenal have/need. Matt Macey will be ready to back him up, but barring any devastating injuries, Cech can absolutely drive Arsenal to the title all on his own.

Hector Bellerin

Mathieu Debuchy is looking like he is going to follow Ospina right out the exit door as well. A big testament to that was him missing the Bournemouth game whereas Kieran Gibbs got the start opposite Bellerin. This could be a dicey proposition if Arsenal do not locate an adequate replacement. We will cross that bridge when we get there.

Per Mertesacker

What Gabriel Paulista did against Bournemouth should have lit a fire under the Big German. Paulista was insane on the pitch. Everything he did was perfect. He even scored a goal. Mertesacker will be well aware that should he continue his shaky form, the Brazilian will be there to replace him.

Laurent Koscielny

The Boss had a good sit down during the Bournemouth match following his worst game in recent memory against Southampton. Hopefully that cleared his head and got him back to his former self. If not, even Koscielny has to be aware of Gabriel chomping at the bit to get into the team.

Nacho Monreal

Monreal got a much-deserved breather as well against Bournemouth and Kieran Gibbs picked up a knock, so Monreal will be good to go to resume his regular place on the left side of the pitch.

Mathieu Flamini

Calum Chambers was very impressive against Bournemouth. Not only that, but with Mohamed Elneny reportedly on his way in, Flamini’s clock is ticking. He is going to be putting his best foot forward to make his closing statements before the cavalry arrives.

Aaron Ramsey

The Welshman is overdue for a dominant game. He was just as awful as everyone else against Southampton and he did not make too big of an impact against Bournemouth either. Luckily, Newcastle is ripe for the picking.

Joel Campbell

The Ox did not do much with the chance he had against Bournemouth. It is still so flustering to see all that he could be, but also the lack of opportunities he is given. That being said, Campbell has done nothing to lose his starting role. Therefore he keeps it.

Theo Walcott

Walcott has been a force on the wings since returning from injury. He has learned how to defend and how to be more than just a runner. I do believe that everyone is looking forward to seeing what he can do put up next to Alexis Sanchez when he finally returns.

Mesut Ozil

Ozil is kind of amazing. Nine created chances against Bournemouth and 16 assists so far in the year. He is breaking every assist record known to man and they are just going to keep falling as the year goes on.

Olivier Giroud

Giroud had a bit of a rough go at Bournemouth despite his magnificent set up for Olivier Giroud’s goal. A nice few days break is just what is needed to get Giroud back into the swing of things.
