14. Lucas Biglia

This move has been dismissed as unlikely because of the Argentinean’s age. But that is what strikes me as the primary attraction for Arsene Wenger. Think of it like Kim Kalstrom. Wenger does not see defensive midfield as a place that needs a long term signing (unfortunately). Instead, he could aim for an older, temporary replacement. That way he can give Jack Wilshere another chance to get healthy. If he ever even plans to give Wilshere a crack at the role.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Lucas Biglia is not the worst option out there. He would not be expensive and as Forza points out, there are numerous clubs trying to pry him away from Lazio.

Biglia is indeed having quite the season thus far. In Serie A, he is a guaranteed three tackles, two interceptions, and 88% pass completion. Not too shabby. And when you get down to practicality, it does make a bit of sense. At 29 years of age, Biglia has a year or two left in the peak of his career. That gives Arsenal enough time to develop Calum Chambers, Isaac Hayden or whoever else Wenger thinks can fill the role.

I am still of the belief that a long-term solution is necessary, but Wenger has been hesitant thus far.

At number 13, we change pace a bit with another wonderkid.
