Arsenal Potentially Leading Zlatan Ibrahimovic To Reconsider Future
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal could use a bit of striker reinforcement, and if it comes for free and in the form of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, is there any reason to say no?
In the mist of dismantling Ligue 1, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is also taking the time out of his hectic schedule to lead the world on as to where he will move next. Even when he doesn’t do it himself, he is still the master pulling the strings. The Swedish Behemoth’s latest bit of play came when his agent, Mino Raiola, sought to address the rumors surrounding where his prolific client would end up next.

“I would like to see him in the Premier League. I think it’s a game that is made for him with his strength, his ability, his technique. It’s difficult now because for the first time in his life he wants to be a free agent so that he can look around and have a feeling day by day what he wants to do. There are a lot of projects on our table but he has not decided yet,” Raiola said, as quoted by the Metro.
Zlatan has been toying with the world of football all season, Arsenal included. It is known far and wide that his contract is expiring at the end of the year. He has already said he is moving on. However, the question that he will not/cannot answer is where he is headed next.

One potential solution is AC Milan. He has always wanted to reunite with his former club, but it may be a case of ‘been there, done that’.
Another potential solution is the MLS. Zlatan said that he would love to play in the United States and that Los Angeles, New York City and Miami all appeal to him. The Swede could very well end up in the MLS but he still has plenty of talent yet to give at the top flight of world football. And seeing as how he has never been to the top flight of world football, it’s almost now or never.
What makes this whole situation curious is that Zlatan had completely ruled out the EPL not so long ago.
“To come to England today is not a question that is brought up. I think, first of all, it’s impossible to get me to England. And with my own thinking, when I went to Milan I was speaking to some English clubs, but it didn’t end up with me coming to England. The day I stop football, I won’t look back and think maybe I should have played in England.” Those were Ibra’s words back in August of 2014 (via the Telegraph).

What changed? Either Zlatan has convinced himself, or someone in England is doing the convincing. Obviously it would have to be one of the top clubs. Zlatan does not like Louis van Gaal, so it is not Manchester United that he is eyeing. Zlatan did like Jose Mourinho but he is gone now, so Chelsea is not an option. Manchester City and Arsenal are the last two possibilities. It is well known that Zlatan almost came to Arsenal as a 17-year old, so why not make the move at long last, 16 years later?
The point is, something changed in his mind and he opened up to the option of the EPL. Dare we consider that Arsene Wenger has been speaking with the world-class striker to get him to Arsenal?
Zlatan for free is too good to pass up. For anyone, Arsenal included. Kind of like the Petr Cech deal. Putting Zlatan with Giroud could be impossible to stop. But I’ll leave it at that because fantasizing about it will get us nowhere.
