Arsenal is one of many teams falling victim to the frenzy that has resulted from Pep Guardiola’s announcement that he wishes to come to the EPL.

When Pep Guardiola announced that he was leaving Bayern Munich in the summer to come to the Premier League, he was questioned. Arsene Wenger raised a bit of doubt over his actions, as have numerous people within Bayern Munich. The decision is incredibly questionable and as ESPNFC puts it, ‘undignified’.

There is no better word to describe it. Since announcing that he wants to come to the Premier League, it has been an absolute madhouse in England. Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal have all been a slaughterhouse of speculation. The rumors are making even Arsene Wenger look like he is on the chopping block at Arsenal.

Pep Guardiola is attempting to put himself above the game by doing what he did. His obligation was to Bayern Munich and he essentially scrapped that midseason so as to go after his own interests abroad at a time where he could not even act on those interests. Now, he is probably reveling in the chaos he has created.

Unfortunately, it will not hinder his ability to find a job. Unless that desired job is at Arsenal.

However, the rumors are running rampant in North London as well. Even Arsene Wenger has been forced to answer to the claims. While numerous headlines out there will lead you to believe that Wenger supported Guardiola’s potential move to Arsenal and that Le Prof thinks the Spaniard’s tactics would fit in well with Arsenal. Even Sky Sports is taking what Wenger said severely out of context.

That is not what Wenger said. Wenger merely stated that any managerial strategy is a legitimate strategy so long as the manager is fully committed. If anything, that could be seen as a sly dig at Guardiola because of his questionable commitment to Bayern Munich.

Wenger went on to give the questioners a bit of a tongue-in-cheek response: “I’m very pleased that you care about our club and my succession but it’s not my job to talk about that and not your job to make this decision.”

Wenger is the lest likely to lose his job to the Spanish shark, but that does not mean that he is immune to the pressure or to the pains of what Guardiola could bring to a rival. For instance, take the most recent rumors that Guardiola is going to steal Alexis Sanchez and bring him to whatever EPL team he ends up at.

Guardiola is becoming a bit of a home wrecker. The EPL managerial situation is already in a very volatile state but he has went ahead and stirred the pot. It is great to see Arsene Wenger standing up for his standing at Arsenal in the most polite way possible, but it may even be better to see a bit of a firmer response from Le Prof, along the lines of what he said back in December.

“I don’t like the fact that the managers come out so early for what they will do, because it’s not necessarily good for their own team, nor for the speculation about the managers who are going through a little bit of a difficult patch,” he said, via the Daily Mail.

Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthaus has said some rather pointy remarks as well: “Guardiola will have five difficult months in Munich. There never was true love between Guardiola and the Bayern players” (via the Mirror).

Hopefully there is more backlash to come at Guardiola for all of this. He will undoubtedly cause the firing of Louis Van Gaal, Manuel Pellegrini or someone else. Yet it will in no way hinder his job pursuits. When you win with Barcelona and Bayern Munich, you have no negative reviews on your Yelp page. Except from the players you managed, but that is a discussion for another page.
