Arsenal has supposedly always been an admirer of Karim Benzema. However, a new manager of Real Madrid changes little for Arsenal’s boyhood crush.

With a new manager comes new philosophies, new tactics and a brand new way of approaching daily life. It can also sometimes mean new personnel. A new manager is inheriting everything that the old manager left behind and one of the first courses of action is usually to make a mark. To establish oneself as the new man in charge. That could mean an array of exits and entrances or it could mean being thrilled that you now coach Real Madrid and have the most talented and expensive club in the world.

Zinedine Zidane’s appointment to Real Madrid’s manager did upset one thing at Arsenal. Isco’s hero was now his manager. Therefore there was a not a solitary chance that he would be taking a bow and heading to Arsenal right as the primary thing pushing him away from the club (Rafa Benitez) was replaced by the man he modeled his game after.

It’s not going to be the same for everyone, however. ESPNFC quotes the Telegraphs’ wild speculation that club president Florentino Perez is “keen to add to Real Madrid’s attacking ranks in a show of power”. That would not be surprising. This is Real Madrid and they have more financial power than anyone else in the world of football. However, to stretch that speculation into a belief that in order for Perez to flex his financial clout, he would have to sell one of the BBC trio, is a bit of a longshot.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

First of all, Zidane already said that he wants to start Benzema, Bale and Ronaldo up front together. Just like it has always been. No new manager is going to look at that forward three and think they need to make a change. It is a terrifying trio for opponents and it does not need to be meddled with just to prove a point.

Secondly, if one of the BBC were to go, it would most likely be Bale. He has been booed by the Bernebeu faithful and fallen in and out of favor. Plus, he would fetch over twice the return of a Benzema to Arsenal sale, as reports indicate. Ever-spendy Louis Van Gaal is looking for his next desperation buy to try to save his job from the jaws of Pep Guardiola and/or Jose Mourinho and there would be fewer statements of intent more powerful than dropping £100m+ on the Welsh attacker.

Real Madrid know that they can hike the price up on Bale and Van Gaal will pay it. Rumors have had him costing as much as £150m. However, Benzema is a different story. His supposed cost has never risen above £50m and even at that much, Arsenal is incredibly unlikely to pay it.

Real Madrid would be much better off dishing Bale, who has been less of a vital piece to this offense as Ronaldo and Benzema, for two to three times the price of a guy that has been a consistent producer for Los Blancos for the past half decade.

Again, that is assuming the speculation that Madrid is even actually looking to offload some talent. Bale has stated that he wants to remain and play for Zidane. So maybe they will the Ronaldo.
