Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Pursuit Turning Into Circus
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal have been hot and cold on the trail of Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. But haven’t the rumors gotten a little bit out of hand?
The rumors all started under the impression that Borussia Dortmund was not afraid to sell anyone. It was said that a cool £42m would snatch Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from the clutches of the born-again German squad. While the obvious counterpoints were loud and strong, there was one thing that continued to give supporters out there hope that Aubameyang would make the questionable move to North London. That one thing was the simple fact that no one had turned it down.

Well, Aubameyang himself went head and said he was not coming to Arsenal. But according the recent ‘reports‘, that just means that Arsenal have to cough up another £18m to land him, for a grand total of £60m. Just think of all the 17 year old French midfielders that could buy Arsene Wenger.
Dortmund continue to ‘reportedly’ say ‘no way, no how’ but the reports keep pouring in that Arsenal keep sending the same £42m offer in different handwriting, just in case. However, Dortmund continue to say no.

This continuous rumor is growing towards getting even worse than the Karim Benzema rumors. At least with Benzema there were some intriguing twists. The belated Instagram picture, for instance, sent all of North London into a tizzy.
But with the Aubameyang, the only twist is that Dortmund said ‘no’ yet again. Arsenal will not be landing the Gabonese strikers’ services this January or in the foreseeable future. He is happy at Dortmund where the camaraderie has never been stronger and the black and yellow army is cheerily responding to last years’ campaign of doom and gloom. They look like they have returned to their old selves as they sit just eight points behind Bayern Munich.
The kicker is that, with Pep Guardiola losing his team and Lewandowski wanting a new challenge, Dortmund’s rigid determination may be enough to give them a boost when trying to gain ground on their dear Bavarian nemesis.
Why would Aubameyang want to miss out on that?

If Arsenal gets any striker this January, it will be a budget signing. They could definitely use the services of another striker, without a doubt, but Aubameyang is not the answer. You can’t buy something that is not for sale. Yet, someone, somewhere will keep this rumor alive and kicking.
Hopefully, in time, this rumor will pass away and be buried next to the Karim Benzema and Edinson Cavani rumors.
