Arsenal may have actually received concrete proof that they can complete a move for Edinson Cavani. The big question, though, is if they even want him.

Through all the Edinson Cavani to Arsenal transfer rumors, one thing has always remained the same. It never seemed possible. The Uruguayan hit man is a premium striker that is biding his time to be the go-to front man of PSG. He only has to wait until the end of the summer. That is when his rival, the Sweedish Behemoth Zlatan Ibrahimovic, is moving on to a new challenge.

That means that the closer Cavani was inching towards the summer, the less likely a move appeared to be. However, suddenly that is not the case.

PSG boss Laurent Blanc was very outspoken about the ‘problems’ that PSG is having with Cavani, saying, as quoted by the Independent:

More from Pain in the Arsenal

“There is a problem with Cavani’s behaviour… We did hold a staff meeting and among the various issues we discussed were Cavani and his complaints. The desires of the individual can’t affect the rest of the team. I believe that he can score here but I understand if he wants to consider other career opportunities.”

For once, we actually have some concrete evidence that Cavani is unhappy where he is and could potentially make a move abroad.

The two biggest potential destinations are Arsenal and Manchester United. Arsene Wenger thought he solved his striker woes when he bought Danny Welbeck, but one bone bruise later, Olivier Giroud still stands as the lone gunman. Cavani could potentially revel at the chance to try to fight his way into an Arsenal starting XI. The one side effect is determining how it would effect Giroud.

The Frenchman is having a very solid season, although his consistency is still questionable almost undoubtedly because of his lack of internal competition. Cavani could serve as that, but he may also see himself as too good of a player to have to compete, and that is where Arsenal could hit a snag in the philosophy behind the signing. If he is having qualms competing with Ibrahimovic, he is going to have even more qualms when he realizes how strongly Wenger sticks with Olivier Giroud.

This situation is shaping up much like Adrien Rabiot at PSG. While all they have to do is wait out their tenure as background figures, the entire process has turned them so sour that they just want out, to ply their trade elsewhere. Both PSG products would fill a need at Arsenal, but neither one is keen on the particulars that Arsenal can seemingly offer. Cavani’s particulars have been covered and Rabiot’s is much of the same. Now that Arsenal have Elneny with Coquelin coming back in a month, Rabiot would have very little time to impress before being relegated back to the bench.

No doubt both PSG men would be an incredibly welcome addition at Arsenal. However, they may not find their situation at Arsenal any more desirable than it was in Paris. It would take some negotiating to devise a plan that they could fit into. Until then, at least we know that we have a window for these Cavani transfer rumors to live long and prosper for another half decade.
