Arsenal now sit third in the table, but they absolutely must take the title this year so that they can permanently brand Alexis with Arsenal.

Arsenal played a gritty man-down affair against Chelsea but they were unable to salvage a point form it. A 1-0 loss to Chelsea always hurts but it hurts even worse when it was pretty clear that the Gunners would have been equipped to keep pace and arguably overcome Chelsea had they still had their striker and a full team.

However, Per Mertesacker’s blunder saw to it that that did not happen. But that is a topic for another day, so let’s move on.

Whatever the case, Alexis Sanchez returned to the fray. Immediately, Arsenal looked rejuvenated. It was as if Alexis became two men and returned the squad to 11 men. He looked back to his best form from the moments he first joined Arsenal.

There used to be a claim that Alexis could win Arsenal the title all by himself, as he clearly carried Arsenal in the 2014/15 season. However, those claims were quickly met with Arsenal exit rumors should they not be able to find success. No matter what Alexis Sanchez said, nobody seemed to accept the fact that he did not want to leave Arsenal. But that is always the case with exit rumors, is it not?

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Now, Alexis offers up the chance to permanently dedicate himself to Arsenal via a bit of ink. When Alexis was asked what he would do when Arsenal inevitably win the 2015/16 title, Alexis answered “maybe a tattoo!” (via the Mirror).

This is an opportunity for Arsenal. You don’t just back down from a permanent declaration to a team. It’s like getting the tattoo of a woman’s name. What do you do if she leaves? You cross it out and add a new name. It doesn’t necessarily look good.

Or, you stay with her because you are sure. That is what it sounds like Alexis is hinting at. He has expressed how happy he is at Arsenal and he is (even jokingly) willing to brand himself with the Arsenal logo for the rest of his life. All Arsenal now have to do is win that trophy so that they can forever be a part of Alexis Sanchez. After all, we have all accepted that Alexis Sanchez is always going to be a part Arsenal’s history. Consider it a bit of returning the favor.
