Arsenal witnessed a remembrance of form from Kieran Gibbs and as if on cue, he supposedly wants to ditch North London. That is unlikely and we will tell you why.

I have always said that Arsenal have an embarrassment of riches at fullback. Between Nacho Monreal, Hector Bellerin, Kieran Gibbs, Calum Chambers and Mathieu Debuchy, Arsenal have five quality full backs that can fill in at the drop of a hat. Debuchy may be on his way out, but that still leaves Arsenal with two quality options at each position.

It had seemed that the starters had caused the subs to disappear, but that is not the case with Kieran Gibbs. The Englishman has been making consistent substitute appearances at left back as well as left wing. His athleticism has never been a question as he is about equally proficient at both sides of the game.

Kieran Gibbs was impressive against Burnley. Very much so. While the Daily Star rather ignorantly points to Gibbs ‘taking out’ team mate Coquelin to ‘gift a goal’ to Burnley, that is far from what actually happened. While he did rather conspicuously take out Coquelin, it was not the chief cause of the goal that followed. Hopefully his overall effectiveness in the match will not be lost by this ‘viral’ social media sensation of Gibbs being bumbling for a bit.

Of course, they also had to go and say that Gibbs wants to quit Arsenal to maximize his chances of making Euro 2016 with England. Rubbish, I tell you.

These rumors do not invoke a great deal of fear. Gibbs has never showed discontent. He is still given every opportunity to succeed, whereas other teams would never be able to show the faith Wenger does.

Gibbs has been with Arsenal for 12 years. He signed his first professional contract in 2007 and as Sir Alex Ferguson says, a player never forgets the club that gave him his first shot. Gibbs will not be abandoning Arsenal. Even with Monreal penning a new contract, Gibbs can still compete with the Spaniard and if it does not work out, Alexis Sanchez remains the only solidified left winger. Gibbs can still find time there.

More from Arsenal Transfer Rumours

Arsenal doesn’t work like every other team out there. Just because a player loses his starting role does not mean he automatically wants out. Especially not someone like Gibbs who has been here so long. Debuchy’s desire to leave makes sense because he lost the role that was promised him. Gibbs is a different scenario.

Plus, if it’s about the Euros, Gibbs does not have that much competition. Leighton Baines is always a force at left back but aside from him, there is just Luke Shaw, who is still recovering from his leg break. Gibbs is going to be included in the England squad for the Euros.

Supposedly Swansea, Newcastle and Crystal Palace are all interested in our English left back but the likelihood of Gibbs leaving is rather minuscule.
