Arsenal Supporters Wrongly Furious After Pep Guardiola Deal
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal have a revolutionary, world class, top notch manager in Arsene Wenger. It is rather despicable to see such a reaction to the Gunners passing on Pep Guardiola.
With Pep Guardiola’s deal to Manchester City announced, the Arsenal twitter-sphere went up in flames. Brother was fighting against brother and father against son. The #WengerOut army had been waiting for this moment to rally the troops and the results were rather saddening.

Here are some of the worst of the worst at the news that we still have one of the best managers in the world.
We always knew that Arsenal fans can be a bit fickle given the club’s long standing resilience to conform to modern day spending habits. Yet their nonconformity has kept them a relevant force in every single footballing competition for the past two decades. While the titles came hard and fast at first and have since slowed down, the fact that teams like Real Madrid are still barking up Wenger’s tree should be all the proof needed.

And yet, in the true Arsenal fashion, Wenger holds true to the club and the club holds true to him. That is what makes Arsenal different. Wenger is not a failure. Not by any stretch of the imagination. He may have run into some hard times but that was in the process of building a new stadium to modernize the club.
In that time frame of “failure”, Wenger maintained Champions League football with the likes of Sebastian Squillaci and Manuel Almunia. I don’t think Pep Guardiola could do that. Guardiola requires unlimited money. He is an expert at building a team of high-paid athletes. He is no Arsene Wenger, who specializes in building a team through intense scouting and player development.
There is a reason why Guardiola only stays at clubs for three to four years at a time. He has no personal investment in the club he joins. It’s just about him winning trophies and ‘conquering’ a new challenge. That’s why he chose City. He does not give a lick about City’s success. He just wants the best possible outlet to land more trophies for his cabinet. Would a manager that cared about his team announce mid season that he was leaving them just to spark a bidding war in the EPL? I don’t think so.
Arsenal is blessed to have Arsene Wenger. He may frustrate us with his lack of spending, but in the end, that is what keeps this team’s identity strong. We have players that are here for the club, not here for the money or for temporary success. It takes a unique team to breed a culture like that and few do it anymore. Borussia Dortmund is one other club that adheres to that model.

Guardiola going to City may give Arsenal a bit of a headache but we only play City two games out of the year. Plus, we have been quite good against City recently. We have no more reason to be afraid of them than we have had in the past.
Arsenal is going to do the right thing and let an internal solution take over management of the club. Thierry Henry is an option and even Mikel Arteta could be. If you value the opinion of the greatest manager in the history of the game, that is the right thing to do. Sir Alex Ferguson always believed that letting players inherit the role of the manager continues a trend of greatness.

Arsenal is going to continue their greatness by continuing what they are doing. They are out of the darkness of the debt years and the trophies will start picking up, as they already have.
