Arsenal have a big match against Southampton at home. They have not scored a goal in their past two matches. So what do we see happening today?

Southampton beat the Gunners 4-0 in December. Arsenal has not scored in two Premier League matches. The Gunners are in third place. Southampton has Charlie Austin.

Those are the bad things.

The good things are equal in number. The loss to Southampton was without Francis Coquelin and Alexis, who are both back now. They have since scored twice on their return, both as a result of Alexis. The Gunners are still in third, despite the inconsistencies.

So with that in mind, here are the predictions from the Pain in the Arsenal staff.

Brian: Arsenal 3-1 Southampton

With Sanchez and Coquelin back, The Gunners are only going to get better both offensively and defensively. Coupled with Elneny’s added versatility in the midfield, Arsenal are as dangerous as ever this season. A poor showing in January has the Gunners sitting at third but it is only a matter of time till Arsenal is out of their Premier slump.

Nasra: Arsenal 2-1 Southampton

Finn: Arsenal 2-1 Southampton

Southampton and Arsenal have had opposite results in their most recent PL fixtures, but the Gunners showed major attacking intent at home against Burnley and they will be fired up to exact some revenge on the saints.

Alexis proved that his return can give a patchwork squad two goals. So what will Alexis be able to do with Joel Campbell, Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey back in the starting lineup? The possibilities are endless. At any rate, expect Alexis to account for two goals.

While I wanted to predict a clean sheet for Arsenal, the presence of Charlie Austin prevents that. The man is a goal scoring machine capable of scoring at any time. We will in all likelihood see him join Alexis on the opposite side of the score sheet.
