Arsenal have a rather large match up against the best team, Barcelona, in the world and Pain in the Arsenal delves to predict the outcome.

Arsenal is capable of anything. Never doubt that. The likelihood of whichever ‘anything’ you’re banking on can vary, but make no mistake about it, Arsenal can win against anyone. They could also lose against anyone.

Barcelona is the toughest opponent available in the world of football, but being at home, Arsenal have their best chance of beating Barcelona. So yes, I agree with Wenger. There is a lot of responsibility falling on guys like Alexis, Per Mertesacker, Francis Coquelin, Nacho Monreal and, well, just about anyone.

All of this comes down to Arsenal’s individual stars and their abilities to contain Barcelona’s individual stars. As much as these teams are based on team play, they need their individual stars to be the cogs in their respective passing machines.

That being said, here is a look at what the Pain in the Arsenal writers think will happen. Rest assured, no matter what you think the result may be, someone here probably agreed with you.

Nasra: Arsenal 1-3 Barcelona

Arsenal has beaten Barcelona in the past with a much weaker team, so it might be easy to think that they can beat them again tomorrow night. However, this a bigger, better Barcelona than the one we saw in 2011. Having said that, I don’t see how Barcelona don’t win this one with that front three. It probably won’t be as much of a thumping that most Arsenal fans are bracing for, but Barcelona will most likely take this one.

Estevan: Arsenal 2-1 Barcelona

Thomas: Arsenal 1-3 Barcelona

Finn: Arsenal 0-3 Barcelona

Josh: Arsenal 2-1 Barcelona

It may not be the popular thing to say, but I really do believe that Arsenal can dig deep and find a way. They have surprised us before, as recently as this year against Bayern Munich, why is it so hard to believe they can surprise us again? All they need to do is play to the best of their abilities. If Ozil is clicking, if Giroud is bossing, if Sanchez is firing – we have an attack that can dent Barcelona’s seemingly impenetrable psyche.

Of course, Arsenal could make me look a fool and make all the other writers (minus Estevan) look vindicated in their predictions, but what would be the fun in that? This is a special club, capable of special things. Take that how you will.
