Arsenal seem to be stressing over whether or not their big name signings are going to stay this summer, but Alexis Sanchez seems like little doubt.

Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are causing quite the stir in that people are wondering what their intentions are. Arsenal look set to miss out on crucial trophies this year and therefore many are wondering if the two star men plan to remain at the Emirates.

Despite Wenger’s optimism in the two signing new deals, nothing is a guarantee and it makes sense that people would be worried. That worry went as far as fans swarming Mesut Ozil’s car as he left the Emirates, begging him not to leave Arsenal high and dry.

Both still have two year deals remaining, and Wenger is not motivated by money, so that should ease some concerns. However, the main thing that eases any concerns around Alexis Sanchez is simple. He still has a lot to learn from Wenger and from Arsenal.

Alexis is one of those players that is motivated by an insatiable desire to improve. He wants to be the best footballer alive and that means learning from the best in the best league in the world. Alexis has already won with Barcelona, he has experienced Italy and he has won a Copa America. All look great on his resume.

But succeeding in the Premier League is the mark of a true champion.

Alexis his the ground running in England but he was figured out remarkably quickly. It was pretty apparent that not even Alexis could believe how quickly opposing defenses got the beat on his tricks. After that initial half season of dominance, it looked like our Chilean maestro was always a step behind. That’s because the defense was always a step ahead.

The ‘run down the touchline and cut inside, looking for a shot’ technique was being snuffed out before it could even take form and Alexis was left frustrated, where he has been ruminating ever since. But Wenger jump-started that rumination with a positional shift, pushing Alexis out right, where his success has seemingly restarted.

Such a move is not lost on the ever-inquisitive mind of Alexis. It took a positional change to reignite usefulness and to someone like Alexis, that simply isn’t acceptable. You can bet that he is now focused on how to put his initial success and his current, right-sided success into a blender and come out with an unstoppable milk shake.

But he isn’t going to learn that anywhere else. Some say he could go to Manchester City, but Pep Guardiola has already had his run with Alexis. The Chilean chose Wenger and chose Arsenal because he wanted to learn under Le Prof. It is very clear that the learning process is still underway. As long as Alexis is still learning, he is not going to leave. It’s just who he is.

It all started against Barcelona. In Alexis’s first move to the right, he tallied an assist. Combining all four appearances on the right hand side, Alexis has a goal and three assists. Those assists will give way to goals and before long, Alexis will be back. The process then becomes learning how to sustain that success. Something that Arsenal as a whole needs to work on.
