Arsenal have been nothing but patient with Jack Wilshere. However, at no fault of his, the time may be passing for him to make it at his home club.
Since he broke through at 18, Jack Wilshere has been the future of the club. Even before that. His natural ability combined with his passion and love for the club were unmatched. However, in recent years, Arsenal have been weening themselves off of that forlorn hope that eventually, some day, Wilshere will remain healthy.

It is a painful reality that 24 year old Jack Wilshere may be turning into another Abou Diaby. Glimpses of what could have been, but nothing ever materializing. To make matters even more unfortunate, every time he does play, he impresses and reminds everyone why were were so excited in the first place.
But that patience is slowly dwindling, though it’s at no fault of his. Arsene Wenger himself has proven that the waiting game at Arsenal is a dying concept. He didn’t wait to see how the year would finish, he made abrupt changes to the starting XI and it is paying off.

To a certain extent, having high profile stars again – the likes of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez – has to renew a sense of urgency in Wenger. He wants to keep these guys just as much as the fans do. And as much as they verbally declare their dedication, players who don’t win, leave.
By that standard, this season is huge. Arsenal is still a bit thin and they have room to allow Jack Wilshere some playing time. Next year may be a different story. While I am always skeptical of the ‘warchest’ concept, there is a reported £75m ready to be spent by Wenger.
Whatever the case, there are certain truths about this Arsenal squad. Wilshere is between a rock and a hard place because Granit Xhaka is being scouted. Steve Rowley himself is following the Swiss bruiser. The two sides will not admit to contact being made, but they aren’t exactly denying it either, which in the transfer market world definitely counts for something.

Beyond that, guys like Jon Toral, Gedion Zelalem, Jeff Reine-Adelaide and more are improving and will slowly creep towards first team play. Jon Toral may already be at that level.
Wenger has already benched his go-to guys, Giroud, Mertesacker and Walcott and I would be surprised to see Ramsey handed a starting role upon his return either. This is a time where Arsenal need to shake things up and somewhat surprisingly – they are. Jack Wilshere may turn into another byproduct of that.

Arsenal don’t play the waiting game anymore. It would not be surprising to see Xhaka come in this summer, even with Elneny’s presence, and it would not be shocking to see Toral stick in the first team either.
