Arsenal: Why No Interest In Mario Gotze?
Arsenal have been linked with Mario Gotze for a number of years, however, this year, the rumors seem to have died down significantly. Why does there seem to be no interest in the Bayern Munich star?
There are very few times when the opportunity to sign a genuinely world class talent becomes available. In recent years, Arsenal have had the fortune of being able to bring in three world class players over three consecutive seasons with the additions of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Petr Cech.

However, this year, Arsenal look set to compete with the biggest clubs around Europe for some of the best players in the world. There have been incessant links with top class players like Alvaro Morata, Gonzalo Higuain and N’Golo Kante, and the club have displayed their intent by splashing the cash on Swiss star Granit Xhaka.
However, one player who has not been linked to a move to the Emirates is Bayern Munich and Germany star Mario Gotze. Gotze is not playing regularly for Bayern, having been surpassed by Douglas Costa and Kingsley Coman, but still possesses great quality.

In recent years, especially the Summer when Gotze departed Dortmund for Bayern, there have strong rumors linking Arsenal to the world class midfielder. He fits Arsenal’s mold of a midfielder, is a genuine world beater and can control games from anywhere on the pitch. He has an outstanding touch, great vision and provides ample chances for teammates going forward.
There is no reason that Arsenal would not pursue the signature of such a quality player, and yet, reports this season seem to lack the umph of years gone by, and I can only put this down to the genuine lack of interest from the club. In fact, Gotze has been linked with Liverpool more than Arsenal this Summer and it is dismaying to see the Gunners potentially lose out on signing a genuinely world class player.

Clearly, there is a long way to go in the Summer transfer window, and Gotze’s future is far from clear. However, the initial signs are not promising from Arsenal, and I for one, cannot work out why.
