Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a free agent, and rumors are flying around about where his landing spot may be. With current reports, Arsenal are seriously dodging a bullet.

Many in Arsenal circles are desperate for a world class striker to replace Oliver Giroud. There are many reasons to propose such a viewpoint and there are plenty of strikers that such fans point to, that they would like the Gunners to bring in this Summer.

Such strikers include Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Napoli forward Gonzalo Hinguian and Everton’s Belgian beast Romelu Lukaku. However, another striker on the continent, who is most definitely available, who some fans point to as a potential Arsenal striker is PSG’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

The Swede international’s contract expires with the French club this Summer, and he is set to leave, looking in particular to garner a move to the Premier League. Rumors have been rife with Zlatan’s future club, with many of the top clubs in England being touted. Arsenal are one of these clubs, and Zlatan would be tempted to work under Wenger with a chance to win the Premier League.

However, recent reports strongly suggest that Zlatan has agreed personal terms with Manchester United. With the incoming Jose Mourinho looking to revamp an aging and disappointing squad, Zlatan has been identified as a potential star striker to build the team around. It is looking more and more likely that Ibrahimovic is on his way to Old Trafford, and Arsenal are most definitely dodging a bullet with the Red Devils’ impending signing.

Arsenal are a team without egos. Arsene Wenger likes to create a harmonious, team-first atmosphere at the club. Zlatan, with the biggest ego known to man, would certainly not fit in the Arsenal dressing room. He is focused on his own success before the team, and while he is a talented and quality player, he is unproven in the Premier League and now 34 years of age.

At best, Arsenal are looking at two years of his services, and while his game does not rely on pace, which may help prolong his career, it is simply not worth the money and the potential cost of harming the dressing room. While Zlatan may be a good signing for Man. Utd., Arsenal should be thanking their lucky stars that he is not on his way to the Emirates.
